About Instagram reports

Type in this period's Instagram Insights next to the last period's, or add up to five screenshots. Matcha writes a report that explains reach, saves and shares in words your client understands.

What the finished report looks like

Moss & Marlow Ceramics

Instagram, October 2026

In short

  • Moss & Marlow Ceramics wants more people heading to the shop, and website taps rose to .
  • Saves nearly doubled, up to , and shares rose to .
  • Reach grew to , with followers up to .
  • Saves584+88.4%
  • Shares233+64.1%
  • Profile visits1,960+38%

What changed

Reach went from to accounts. Profile visits rose from to , up , and website taps from to .

Saves rose from to and shares from to . A save means someone kept a post to come back to, and a share means they sent it to another person, so these are the clearest signs this month's content landed. You told us the glaze carousel went up on the 6th, so that post is the first place to look.

Posts published went from to , so the rise did not come from posting more. Followers grew by , a smaller , while reach grew by accounts. Why reach outran followers is not confirmed. We will check how many of the accounts reached were not following yet.

Why it matters

Saves and shares are people acting on a post, which a like does not show. Website taps are the number nearest a sale, and more people tapped through than last month.

Next month

Check which posts account for the most saves, starting with the glaze carousel, and plan two more in that format. Keep posting at about a month so the comparison stays clean.

The seven numbers behind an Instagram month

Followers show how the audience is growing. Reach shows how many accounts saw the content. Profile visits show how many were curious enough to look at the page. Saves and shares show which posts were worth keeping or passing on. Website taps show who went further. Posts published show the work that went in.

That makes seven rows, and each answers a different question a client might ask. Insights offers more than that, but a client report gets harder to read with every extra number.

Leave a row blank if your account doesn't have it. Matcha writes around the rows you fill in.

Why saves and shares say more than likes

A like takes half a second. A save means someone wants to come back to the post, and a share means they thought of a specific person while looking at it. Both are small acts of intent, and both are hard to get by accident.

That makes them useful for explaining why a quiet-looking post mattered. A recipe carousel with few likes and 200 saves has done its job, and the report can say so in a sentence the client follows.

When saves climb faster than reach, the content is landing with the people who see it. When reach climbs and saves stay flat, the posts are being seen and not kept. Matcha points out which one happened, and it names a cause only if your notes do.

Where to find each number

Open Instagram, go to your profile, and tap Professional dashboard, then Insights. Set the date range to match the report. Reach, which Instagram may label accounts reached, is in the overview. Saves and shares sit under Interactions, and profile visits and website taps (external link taps) sit under Profile activity. Labels shift when Instagram updates the app, so match by meaning.

A screenshot of each Insights screen works too. Add up to five and Matcha reads the numbers off them, then shows you what it read so you can fix a misread before the report is written.

Questions

Is this free?
Yes, with no account needed. A fair use limit applies each day. Pro is $49 a month, and early access is open on the home page.
Does it work for Reels?
Yes. Use the Reels totals for the rows that apply, such as reach and shares, or use the account totals. Say in the notes which you used so the report names them correctly.
Instagram shows views now. Which number is reach?
Views counts every time content played or showed, including repeat views by the same person. Reach counts the accounts. Put reach in the Reach row, and mention views in the notes if the client asks about them.
Can I use a screenshot of Insights?
Yes, up to five. Matcha reads them, lists every number it found, and flags any it wasn't sure of, so you can correct it before the report is written.
What if followers dropped?
The report says so, with the size of the drop. Matcha gives a reason only when your notes do. Otherwise it says the cause isn't confirmed and suggests one thing to check, such as when the drop happened.
What happens to my client's numbers?
When Claude writes the report, it reads them and your notes. A CSV is read in your browser, and screenshots are read once and dropped. We keep the report, which quotes the figures it explains, and drop the numbers themselves. Turn on 'Show the numbers table on the link' in Share to show them as a table on the shared link. A nickname works in place of the client's real name.

Your numbers are the only thing missing.
