About year in review reports

Put this year's numbers next to last year's. You get a written review of the year for your client, ending with what to focus on next year. Where the cause of a big move isn't confirmed, it says so. No signup, no card, no limit on clients.

What goes in a year in review for a client

Twelve monthly reports do not add up to a year. Each one covered its own month, and by December nobody remembers what March looked like. A year in review steps back and says what all that work came to.

Start with the numbers that grow over a year. Website visits and clicks from search show the audience building. Leads and revenue show whether it paid. Spend puts that in proportion. Followers and the amount of content published show how much work went in.

Open with the biggest wins, because that is what the client will repeat to their own boss. Then be straight about anything that went backwards. A review with only good news in it is hard to believe.

Finish with two or three priorities for next year that follow from what the numbers showed. That gives you an easy way into the renewal conversation.

Why it is worth writing one

Clients forget. By the end of the year they remember the last bad month and the invoice. A written review reminds them of everything else, in their own numbers.

It is also the report most likely to be printed or forwarded. This one opens as a one pager: a summary, the three biggest movers, and next steps. You can change the layout, the headline style and the background before you send it.

Most agencies skip it because December is already full. The tool above writes it from your numbers and anything you tell it about the year, and you edit from there.

Questions

Is this free?
Yes. Unlimited clients, unlimited reports. You do not need an account to use the tool on this page.
Does it need month by month numbers?
No. One total for each year is enough. If something big happened in a particular month, like a site relaunch in March, mention it in the box for what happened this year and the review will use it.
Our year does not run January to December. Does that matter?
No. Type whatever you call the period, like "FY 2026" or "April 2025 to March 2026", and compare it with the twelve months before.
Which currency does it use?
Any currency. Type the figures without a currency sign. Revenue and spend come out as plain numbers, so a report in pounds or euros reads the same as one in dollars.
What if the year was not great?
It says so, plainly and without drama. Tell it why in the box for what happened this year and it will say that too.
Can I edit what it writes?
Copy the text and change anything you like. Treat it as a first draft built from your numbers.
What happens to my client's numbers?
When Claude writes the report, it reads them and your notes. A CSV is read in your browser, and screenshots are read once and dropped. We keep the report, which quotes the figures it explains, and drop the numbers themselves. Turn on 'Show the numbers table on the link' in Share to show them as a table on the shared link. A nickname works in place of the client's real name.
